Cop shot?

A regular contributor to the letters section of a local newspaper doesn't think it matters. Fucking incredible. This dude, while I feel that he has written some pretty less than stellar pieces before, is pretty gutsy with this one. I can't recall anything specific, but I have a general memory of the guy being pretty conservative. People like that usually worship pigs, but not Raymond:

Proposed death penalty bill creates different classes of victims

In the eyes of state Sen. Robert Singer, (R-Monmouth, Ocean, Burlington, Mercer) your life is not as important as that of a cop. That is the bottom line of a bill that Singer is proposing (supported by Sen. Jennifer Beck) in a typical politician’s knee-jerk reaction to the murder of a (Lakewood) cop.

The bill could result in the death penalty for murderers of on-duty cops, and for good measure, childkillers and terrorists whose actions cause deaths. Singer does not seem to be aware of or care about the equal protection clause of the Constitution. His bill would use such sad events to justify creating different classes of society.

On-duty cops, like everyone else from the president to celebrities, to athletes, to the pope, are still just people doing jobs. We justify putting cops on pedestals by claiming they are putting their lives on the line every day. Commuters using high-speed highways are also putting their lives on the line every day getting to and from their jobs to support their families.

Same for those working in dangerous jobs, like firemen, mine workers, construction workers. Will murderers of those while working in those jobs also face the death penalty? If not, why?

And why include kids? Before reaching adulthood, the vastmajority have not made any real major contribution to society. And the reality is that the majority of us never make major contributions throughout our entire lives.

Yet if a person with a track record of having made real contributions — created jobs, grown our food, built our homes, helped the poor (e.g., someone like Mother Teresa selflessly helping Camden’s poor), etc. — is murdered, that death would be treated more lightly by a “mere” lifetime of taxpayerpaid meals, lodging and medical care.

There is something hypocritical about the legal process by which a defendant, if found guilty, could be executed. It is nothing short of premeditated, first-degree murder, with the “players” (prosecutor, judge, jury, and the people who do the actual murder) all being willing coconspirators and accomplices. So some murders are bad, others are actually sanctioned.

Racism just isn't racist anymore

A Boston police officer who sent a mass e-mail referring to Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. as a "banana-eating jungle monkey" has apologized, saying he's not a racist.
Officer Justin Barrett told a Boston television station on Wednesday night that he was sorry for the e-mail.
"I regret that I used such words," Barrett told CNN affiliate WCVB-TV. "I have so many friends of every type of culture and race you can name. I am not a racist."
...In Barrett's e-mail, which was posted on a Boston television station's Web site, he declared that if he had "been the officer he verbally assaulted like a banana-eating jungle monkey, I would have sprayed him in the face with OC (oleoresin capsicum, or pepper spray) deserving of his belligerent non-compliance."
Barrett used the "jungle monkey" phrase four times, three times referring to Gates and once referring to Abraham's writing as "jungle monkey gibberish."

It's getting so hard to be racist these days. Nobody's racist anymore. All these people who publicly say and do things that used to be considered racist, like the above pig, like Don Imus, like the pig who arrested Gates, or pigs who use the letter "N" to denote black people's race on traffic tickets, they just aren't racist now. Sure, they hate black people and everything, fuck with them based on their skin color, but I guess they just don't mean it. Maybe they're accidental racists. Unwilling racists.

Anyway, when I call someone a banana-eating jungle monkey, I want them to be offended, in a serious way. And they used to be. Unfortunately, they won't anymore, since it's no longer a racist term. I get it all the time these days. When I go out to eat, the person waiting on me often says, "Do you know what you'd like to order, you banana-eating jungle monkey?" When the UPS guy comes to our door, he frequently tells me, "Hey banana-eating jungle monkey, I've got a package for you." At the health food store, where they know me, most of the staff greets me with, "Hello banana-eating jungle monkey, how are you today?" And I'm not even black. I get it all the time though, you know? What a bummer.

What's it gonna take? I think we need new terms. The old ones are played out and have long since lost their sharp edge due to constant use. Who would have thought that banana-eating jungle monkey would become common, non-offensive parlance? I guess everything changes with time. It's like how "bad" started to mean "really awesome" in the 1960s.

I'm sorry that I was racist at you, you are famous

Hello. My name is Robert Powell. My friend calls me Bob. Until today, I was a police officer in Dallas, Texas. Two weeks ago, I saw a vehicle, with hazard lights on, roll through a red light and several stop signs. When the driver got to the hospital, which is where he was going, I saw everyone in the car was black. GREAT. Can't I catch a break?

So as soon as they pulled up and parked, two women get out of the car and run into the hospital! You better believe I drew my gun, told them to get back in the car and show me their hands. They didn't listen and one of them told me her mother was dying inside. Glad none of my family voted for Obama.

Then the guy driving gets out, and HE tries to go inside too! I told him, while waving my gun around, not to move, and that if he didn't produce his insurance card, I was gonna have to lock him up. Boy, his attitude really sucked. He kept saying something about his mother-in-law dying inside, that she only had minutes to live.

Next thing you know, a nurse comes out and starts giving me the same guff. I ignored her as best I could, but then a fellow officer came and said the SAME thing! I knew better though. This perp needed to be handled. I did the best I could, kept him outside for thirteen minutes, wrote him a ticket and let him inside. Yeah, let him. I could have kept him longer if I wanted. He got lucky.

So here it is, a couple of weeks later, and everyone's goin wild about me doing my job. Even if they were going to the hospital to see her mother, his mother-in-law, before she passed, they broke the law. If they didn't violate our legal code, he wouldn't have been standing in the parking lot while she died. Not my fault. I didn't make him run that light. Once he did that, all bets are off. He's at MY mercy then. I could have hauled him in, and I should have, with his attitude.

Turns out this guy who was driving is a pro football player. Now everyone thinks he deserves special attention. They all say I should have let him go inside, I should have listened to him, there was no reason at all to pull my gun on his wife, I shouldn't have treated him like an animal, and so on. Ya hear me? HE WAS BLACK. And it was late.

Here's a video of me taking care of business with this perp. It's got a lot of my good lines in there. Even though it's dark out, you can still tell he's black.

So I've been suspended with pay for the last few weeks, and it's been great. I watch the TV all day and don't have to deal with all them scum. Reporters call all day, but I like talkin to em so they can find out what really happened. The chief though, he don't like it much. He says he understands, but that it makes the department look bad, so he made me quit today. Damn chief, I even apologized after people found out!

It's ok though, cause shit, I liked bein a cop, but I'm gonna downright LOVE bein a prison guard!

Pigs on the attack in Minneapolis

The CNN videos don't seem to play in Firefox. Try some other browser.

I like when the pig starts pepper spraying people for no reason, as he's dragging someone with one hand. In the article at the bottom of this post, they neglect that part. She makes sure to try to stop him from saying anymore than CNN wants people to hear. Also, "Protester turns on police"?

Gratuitous.

Watch them push her with their bikes, threaten her with arrest and shove her to the ground after they've already blinded her. She gave them peace signs. Pigs are so heartless.

Here, the police turn a protest into that resembling a war zone. They look like robots. The people they are threatening don't appear to be very dangerous, sitting down with their hands on their heads.

Not to worry though, the police haven't used excessive force. In fact, they stopped "the acts of terror the group [The RNC Welcoming Committee, a protest organizing group] allegedly planned, according to court documents, [which] were kidnapping delegates, sabotaging a local airport, damaging bridges and taking over federal buildings." Probably not.

saying sorry

that's cool. but what are they gonna do about all the effects of it? you know, the things with which we are still living today? could these apologies be bellwethers of reparations? doubtful. i just don't see it in this country.
